About Me.
I have been a therapist since 2018 and a birth worker since 2020. I hold sacred the honor of being a witness to some of life’s more tender moments. Through the intersection of my experience working with young children and fellow queer folks, I have found immense joy in supporting the noncis-hetero family building process. With a combination of focused training, self-study, and lived experience I bring my full self to support each individual or family’s unique journey, whether that be navigating decision fatigue, the grief process, painful lack of representation in the fertility industry, self-discovery before reproduction, and so much more (us in the LGBTQ+ community are known for our expansive nature, after all).
I am a married, queer New Orleanian with 3 dogs and a cat. I do not currently have any biological children, but have spent many years as babysitter, nanny, and auntie.
How I work:
I believe that to co-create a powerful container for change and witnessing, my clients deserve my true, authentic self. In our time together, I will often acknowledge the greater influence of societal structures on our mental health, as their link cannot be denied. Into sessions I bring my own awareness of community, climate, gender, power, privilege, race, economic and political forces.
I am openly critical of white supremacist, capitalist, ableist, cisgender-/ heterosexual-/ patriarchal-/ neuro-normative culture both inside and outside of the therapy room. I believe that therapy and birth work are inherently political.
In our work together, through birth work or therapy, I defer to your goals, hopes, and desires, knowing you are the expert of your experience. In the context of therapy, I aspire to work together and build a healing example of a non-judgmental and supportive relationship in which to achieve those goals. In birth work, I strive to be a fierce and respectful advocate, amplifying your voice and providing guidance when requested. In both settings, I bring a trauma-informed, client-centered, and relational approach to the work. I love what I do and believe so deeply in the power of healing in relationships and the importance of collective care.
